Driving through San Francisco is an experience on it’s own. Watching Victorian houses, a great view from Fisherman’s Warf, shopping, eating and drinking, it is all very accessible. I Crossed the Golden Gate bridge by foot after an encounter with a raccoon at the entrance.

An amazing park in San Diego is the San Diego Zoo in San Diego’s Balboa park. Not only unique for its animals, but especially because of the vegetation in the park. A highlight are the giant panda’s which can be observed on the internet by the Panda Cam.

Miami and Miami Beach

The Dezerland Beach hotel in Miami Beach (later a Howard Johnson and closed since about 2015) has a special lounge with cars from the 1950’s. Some of these are modified so you can have breakfast or dinner inside.

The Banff National Park in Canada is great for hiking. You can swim in the hot springs and go up the Sulphur mountain with a gondola. It is also a good starting point to visit Lake Louise. One can see bears and elks. The following picture is of the Banff Springs Hotel.
